President Prabowo Subianto underscored that the entire state budget is funded by the people and should be utilized in the best interests of the Indonesian people.
Subianto conveyed this at the 2024 National Coordination Meeting of the Central Government and Regional Governments at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Sentul, West Java, on Thursday.
"The president emphasized that the entire state budget must be directly absorbed for the interests of the people," Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya, remarked at the event on Thursday.
On that occasion, Arya noted that the president was focused on ensuring the efficiency of state funds.
"Since the government is all funded by the people's money, do not let the fund be misused," he added.
Arya said his side strove to facilitate the National Coordination Meeting of Regional and Central Governments to bring together the president and all decision-makers.
In his speech, Prabowo also said that the event was a strategic step to connect decision-makers and policymakers from the central to regional levels.
"I think this is a useful and strategic moment. Almost all decision-makers from all levels determine the direction of the nation's life for the next few years," Prabowo stated at the opening of the meeting.
He also commended the initiative taken by the Home Affairs Ministry led by Tito Karnavian for holding a forum involving more than five thousand participants.
Prabowo remarked that this meeting is an opportunity for him to address all decision-makers from across the country for the first time following his inauguration as the eighth head of state.
Meanwhile, Karnavian stated that the grand meeting was oriented towards coordinating and harmonizing institutions in regions and directing them to support the realization of priority programs and policies initiated by Prabowo for the next five years.
