President Prabowo Subianto ratified five laws on Indonesia's defense cooperation, each with India, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, and France.

Based on the copy of the laws seen at the Ministry of State Secretariat official page on Sunday, the five laws were ratified by President Prabowo in Jakarta, dated October 28, 2024, and promulgated by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi on the same date.

The Indonesian House of Representatives has approved five bills concerning the ratification of international defense agreements into law during a plenary session last September.

At that time, Chairperson of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Meutya Hafid stated that international defense cooperation aimed at minimizing potential threats, improving the capabilities of a country's defense industry, as well as advancing defense diplomacy.

"Defense diplomacy has resulted in cooperation with friendly countries, including India, France, the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, and Brazil," she noted.

The laws on defense cooperation are expected to support increased defense cooperation between Indonesia and each of those five countries, based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
