The Environment Ministry has invited e-commerce companies in Indonesia to support the Adiwiyata School program, initiated by the government in 2006.

"There are many ways to collaborate for a sustainable environment and to build students' character through the Adiwiyata School program," said Luckmi Purwandari, head of the Environmental Generation Development Center at the ministry, in Jakarta on Saturday.

The Adiwiyata School program is a key initiative by the ministry to educate school communities—students, teachers, guardians, and the surrounding community—on environmental sustainability.

Environmental conservation is integrated into the educational curriculum created by the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The program also promotes environmental efforts through the creation of parks and waste management. Additionally, Environment Minister Regulation Number 5 of 2013 on National Adiwiyata Schools sets conservation standards.

According to the Environment Ministry, the program has been adopted by 28,900 elementary, junior high, and senior high schools, both public and private, over the past 18 years.

"Around 10 percent of all schools have participated in the program so far; the rest will join in due course. The government fully supports its implementation," Purwandari said.

She added that e-commerce companies, including those focused on environmental entrepreneurship, could help advance the program by providing eco-friendly educational products.

She expressed optimism, noting the shared vision and mission among business actors to create a sustainable environment, especially for students, who are a crucial segment of society.
