Sydney (ANTARA/Xinhua-OANA) - Torrential rain has caused more flash flooding in the towns of Port Macquarie and Taree on the mid- north coast of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia, local media reported on Wednesday. NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Phil Campbell told the Australian Associated Press (AAP) that Taree had received 101 millimeters of rainfall on Tuesday night while 91 millimeters fell at Port Macquarie. "There's been quite a bit of flash flooding," Campbell said. He said the SES received 25 calls for help from the area, mostly about leaking roofs and minor property damage Wednesday morning. Four flood rescues were carried out by SES volunteers Wednesday morning as the floodwater rose suddenly, Campbell said. "Heavy rain is still falling but expected to ease during the morning," he said. Campbell said SES volunteers helped to relocate 30 greyhounds to higher ground near Port Macquarie on Wednesday. About 5000 residents in the towns of Mungindi, Collarenebri and Wee Waa in the state's northwest are still isolated, according to the AAP reports. "Twenty-seven helicopters are running from dawn to dust doing resupply," Campbell said.(*)
