Jakarta - Vice President Boediono has asked all regional leaders to maintain national stability by enforcing law and order in their respective areas. "The governors, district heads, and mayors play a major role in enforcing law and order in their efforts to maintain national stability," the vice president said in his introduction to a Government Working Meeting 2012 at JI-Expo Kemayoran on Thursday. According to him, law enforcement was a key to keep and maintain the stability of the nation as Indonesia was practicing the principles of democracy. "Democracy without law and order is an anarchy," the vice president said, quoting a statement. Therefore he said the regional leaders should maintain the dignity of their leadership by enforcing the law and order in a proper manner. Boediono said the success of national development was also determined by good governance and the quality of bureaucracy. He pointed out that Singapore was an example of the country that had applied government good governance system because the state apparatus in the country did not merely look for salary, but intended to give something good to the nation.
