Bogor (ANTARA) - An Indonesian psychologists dr Andreas Harry has been invited to the world Alzheimer's disease conference in Paris, France, from July 16 to 18, 2011. "Besides discussing matters related to Alzheimer's disease, the conference will also present a Lifetime Achievement Award," Andreas Harry, who is also post graduate lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology of Tarumanegara University (Untar) said here on Sunday. He said the international conference held by the Alzheimer's Diseases Association (AAICAD) will be attended by world researchers. He said in Indonesia no definitive diagnose had been held on Alzheimer's disease patients, except abroad. Andreas Harry said in his website http://www.ikatanapotekerindonesia.net that the cause of the disease is currently still being studied, but the researchers found that genetic and environmental factors are dominant risk factors. He said several other aspects like headache, infection by virus, aluminum and copper intoxication had been suspected of playing a role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. In the meantime, in the premises of the association of Alzheimer's disease Indonesia, http://asosiasialzheimerindonesia.wordpress.com, referring to the book "Introducing Loss of Memory caused by Alzheimer's Disease" written by Prof Dr Sidiarto Kusumoputro and dr Lily Djokosetio Sidiarto,it was said that presenile dementia had caused the people 90 billion US dollars each year (more than Rp180 trillion) on house treatment alone. People suffering from Alzheimer's disease have a loss of memory in the beginning, and eventually became senile progressively, the sufferers are mostly the aged. In 2008, general chairman of the Indonesian Association of Alzheimer's Disease (AAzI) dr Samino also said that those prone to Alzheimer's disease are people above 60, but younger people may also get the disease if they have hereditary risk factors. And Samino even said that 40 years old sufferers of pre-senile dementia were also found in Indonesia.
