The Sidoarjo Police Force in East Java  has continued to expedite COVID-19 vaccination in schools, such as at the Al-Ahmad Islamic Middle School, Kemasan, Krian.

Sidoarjo Police Chief Senior Commissioner Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro stated in Sidoarjo on Tuesday that as many as 1,500 doses of the Sinovac vaccine were provided to students at Al-Ahmad School and the nearby residents.

"To make it easier for vaccination participants, the Sidoarjo Police along with Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) dispatched the vaccination car around rural areas and NU Peduli," he remarked.

The interest among students and the community to participate in the event was high ever since the vaccination started in the morning, he pointed out.

Despite the high public interest, he urged everyone to practice care and remain vigilant since COVID-19 was still lingering around. One of the steps to be undertaken was to follow the health protocols, he remarked.

Principal of the Al-Ahmad Islamic Middle School M. Sudi lauded the vaccination program, implemented through collaboration between the Sidoarjo Police and NU, as the event could push for the creation of herd immunity in the school environment as well as the community around the school.

He remarked that implementation of the first and second stages of vaccination was not only for the students and staff at Al-Ahmad but also for the surrounding community.

"Thankfully, there was high interest among the vaccination participants, so group immunity is expected to soon be formed," Sudi noted.

The Sidoarjo Police Force also expedited vaccination to remote villages by dispatching vaccination vehicles.

Moreover, the Taman Pinang Police Post offers a 24-hour vaccination post to make it easier for people keen on getting vaccinated late at night.
