Leaders and members of the Surabaya City Legislative Council (DPRD), who underwent swab testing between October 3 and October 6, 2020, have been declared negative for the novel coronavirus disease.

“The results (of swab testing) released today show all leaders and members of Surabaya city DPRD have tested negative for COVID-19," chief of the Surabaya city DPRD, Adi Sutarwijono, said here on Wednesday.

He said 363 people, including leaders, members, civil servants, and outsourced workers of the DPRD, had taken the swab tests at the DPRD building in Surabaya.

While all 29 leaders and members of the Surabaya city DPRD tested negative for COVID-19, the test results for civil servants and outsourced workers of the DPRD will be announced later.

“Other members of the DPRD did not take swab testing (at the DPRD building) because they travelled out of the city to take swab tests on their own,” Sutarwijono said.

The tests were part of the Surabaya city DPRD’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he noted.

“(Swab) testing and contact tracing are the methods implemented by Mayor Risma (for curbing virus transmission), and the handling of COVID-19 in Surabaya city has shown significant results,” he said.

The Surabaya city DPRD building is a public place and is open to visitors from all layers of the community in the city and other cities, he added.
