Surabaya, East Java, (Antara) - Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini has expressed hope that students in the "City of Hero" would spread encouraging messages and develop a positive spirit.

Risma, as the mayor is endearingly called, remarked here on Monday that children today are raised very differently from those in the past due to the era of openness in which the search and absorption of technology and information has increased.

In light of this, she noted that competition in future will become stiffer, especially in terms of finding jobs.

"It is time for students to be more active in learning to become smart, to be good in managing their time, and no longer goof around if they want to be their own boss," Risma noted.

The mayor of Surabaya reiterated that the students have to work hard and not get daunted in the face of difficulties.

"Face it, because when you face problems head on, you will find success," Risma encouraged the students in the city of Surabaya, East Java.

According to the mayor, children today are exposed to various temptations. Moreover, juvenile delinquency, drugs, and the dangers of gadget abuse are also rampant.

"I want the children in Surabaya to have the will to try and work hard in order to compete with their counterparts in the world to realize a better future," Risma said.(*)
