Jakarta, (Antara) - The Government of Indonesia is sharing its knowledge and experiences in developing the agricultural sector, especially artificial insemination for breeding livestock, with a delegation of the Suriname government.

Director of Foreign Policy and International Development Cooperation Dewo Broto Joko said the implementation of artificial insemination for livestock production in most developing countries has only witnessed a small percentage of success due to the lack of infrastructure for conducting artificial insemination that has not been built properly.

In this context, he said, Indonesia is a country that has the capability of implementing artificial livestock insemination programs professionally.

"Indonesia's experiences and knowledge in the field of artificial insemination can be shared with Suriname, as both countries have established a unique relationship," he said in Jakarta, Monday.

The National Planning Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, organized an event themed "Strengthening Indonesia-Suriname Development Cooperation through Reverse Linkage Program Knowledge Sharing on Agriculture Development and Artificial Insemination for Cattle" on July 24-27, 2017, in Jakarta and Malang, East Java.

The knowledge-sharing activity is an implementation of the memorandum of understanding on reverse linkage signed between the Government of Indonesia and the Islamic Development Bank, one of which is for Indonesia to facilitate the representatives of Suriname to study the development of its agricultural sector.

Furthermore, the activity is being held to share knowledge and experiences about the development of agriculture and livestock in Indonesia with Suriname's Ministry of Agriculture.

"Additionally, this activity will enhance the development cooperation between Suriname and Indonesia, especially in the field of agriculture," he added.(*)
