Kuala Lumpur, (Antara) - The handling of the refugee crisis is not the responsibility of one country alone, according to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
"International cooperation should be improved, including the handling of the issue of human trafficking," Retno remarked at Westin Hotel here Friday night.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during his visit to Kuala Lumpur will attend ten summits and numerous bilateral meetings with several state/government leaders, including United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, she noted.
Besides having a bilateral meeting with the UN chief, President Jokowi will also have a series of meetings with three heads of states from New Zealand, Japan, and Vietnam.
During the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, three documents, related among other things with the handling of human trafficking, especially women and children, and the stability of the ASEAN community will be signed, Retno said.
Regarding the Indonesian position in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) the minister said, 94 percent of AEC-related action has been completed and what has not been achieved will be continued after 2015.
Furthermore, Indonesia will raise the importance of cooperation in addressing and overcoming the problem of radicalism and terrorism in a number of meetings during the ASEAN Summit, she added.
"In a number of meetings during the ASEAN Summit, Indonesia will convey the importance of cooperation in dealing with crimes, especially related to radicalism and terrorism," Retno remarked.
Radicalism continues to occur in many parts of the world, and the latest one was the terrorist attack on a hotel in Mali, she noted.
"There was terror act in Mali. We had communication with our personnel in Mali and found that all Indonesian nationals there are in good condition," Retno said.(*)
