Jakarta, (Antara) - The Norwegian government has expressed its readiness to help Indonesia in seeking a solution to resolve the forest and land fires permanently.
"If there is a question where our position is now? We face the worst incident of forest and land fires," the Norwegian ambassador to Indonesia Stig Traavik said in a seminar here on Tuesday.
The envoy explained that rain alone will not be enough (to extinguish) the fires.
"There must be a way out in order to avoid another worst incident to occur," the envoy added.
According to the ambassador, the Indonesian government has focused its attention to solve the forest and land fires issue.
Therefore, the Norwegian Government has strong will to cooperate to conduct further tests or studies relating to the making of insulation canals in peatlands prior to the implementation the Summit of UNFCCC Climate Change in Paris, France the envoy pointed out.(*)
