Surabaya, E Java (Antara) -- The Surabaya city government in East Java is teaming up with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to prevent the circulation of drugs that pose a real threat to the future of younger generations. "We have routinely familiarized children (who face the threat of drugs) by teaming up with the BNN," Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini said at a function aimed at improving youths' awareness of the dangers of HIV/AIDS, juvenile delinquency and drugs at the office of the Dukuh Pakis sub-district administration here on Wednesday. "We have many programs to deal with juvenile delinquency and drugs," she affirmed. Rismaharini added that she always tried to warn youths in the city against getting close to drugs. Furthermore, youths have allegedly become a target of drug trafficking. She told a number of students and youths that they should not choose the wrong friends as this could lead them to getting acquainted with drugs. It is absolutely wrong to consider drugs and liquor part of modern life. "If you try to consume drugs because you are ashamed of being called villagers or being less associated with, then you would be wrong. Drugs and liquor are not part of modern life. Consuming them is a setback. If you have problems, consult with your good friends. Don't turn to drugs, or you will regret it," she explained. (*) Reported by Abdul Hakim
