Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini inaugurated a friendship house to help children solve school problems during the commemoration of the 2014 National Child Day at the Empire Palace here on Friday. "Don't waste your time with unnecessary activities. Your success rests with yourselves and not other people," Tri Rismaharini told thousands of children attending the event. The friendship house which will be located at the Youth Hall serves as a place for children to devote attention by calling 08001111000 and 031-5462233, she said. The mayor, along with the head of the local education office, the assistant for the people's welfare, and the head of the public relations section symbolically provided consulting services to parents of the children attending the event. The children raised many questions, including how to avoid getting bored with math which involves many calculations. The on-duty psychologist then advised the children to draw pictures according to their conscience. The commemoration of the National Child Day is very important now that the success of a nation depends on the success of children. "If they are misguided, this country will be misguided accordingly," she said. One of the keys to developed nations' success is education, she said adding education is the way to achieve a success. "Why is education important? Whether this national will be successful or not depends on yourselves," she said. (*)
