Incheon, S Korea (antara) - The Indonesian men's badminton team lost to Taiwan 1-3 in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, on Sunday.
Indonesia's first singles player Tommy Sugiarto bowed to Taiwan's Tien Chen Chou in a rubber set 21-13, 19-21, 14-21.
Indonesia equalized the point 1-1 when the strong pairing of Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan defeated Taiwanese duo Chia Hsin Tsai/Sheng Mu Lee in a straight set 21-19, 21-18.
Indonesia lost another point when its second singles player Jonatan Christie lost to Jen Hao Hsu in a straight set 17-21, 18-21.
Taiwan took a 3-1 lead over Indonesia after its second doubles pairing of Hung Ling Chen/Min Chun Lao crushed Indonesian duo Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro in a straight set 21-17, 21-18.
With the defeat, Indonesia lost a chance in the medal race in the team event after its women's badminton team lost to Japan 0-3 in the round of 16 on Saturday. (*)
