Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - The Surabaya City Legislative Council (DPRD) is ready to endorse three draft bylaws by Friday before their term of office ends on Sunday. Among the many draft bylaws, only one on health services had not been deliberated, chief of the city legislative council, M. Machmud, said here, Thursday. "The deliberation on the draft bylaw on health services could not be completed because it arrived at the city legislative council at the last minute. It reached the tables of the members of the city legislative council only two weeks ago," he said. The three draft bylaws, which were expected to be passed into bylaws at the plenary meeting on Friday, concerned city forests, trees and civil servant investigators. The draft bylaw which has not been deliberated would be submitted to the plenary session. It would be returned to the city administration which would later submit it to the city legislative council for deliberation, he said. "Since I assumed the post of DPRD chairman, I have encouraged fellow members to deliberate draft bylaws as soon as possible. In the previous tenures when the old members of the council would reach the end of their term in office many draft bylaws were left without being deliberated," he said. (*)
