Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (Antara) - The four main pillars in the heart of every Indonesian are against the presence of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) followers in the country, according to East Nusa Tenggara Governor, Frans Lebu Raya. "The four main pillars are the state philosophy of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unity in Diversity, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," the governor said here, Saturday. If every citizen consistently practices and lives up to these ideals in everyday life, he or she will be able to fortify himself or herself against the influence of the ISIS, he noted. "We must be grateful that till now none of East Nusa Tenggara residents has supported the ISIS movement, but we have to remain vigilant, anyway," Lebu Raya said. The former chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization, Hasyim Muzadi, has warned Indonesian Muslims about the influence of ISIS, the East Nusa Tenggara governor pointed out. Indonesian Muslims should not be provoked, let alone join the ISIS movement and support it, Hasyim had said in Jakarta recently. Indonesian Muslims, especially NU members, should not support the ISIS and avoid things that could divide Muslims, Hasyim said. "As a Muslim, I have to call on the Indonesian Muslims to not let themselves be provoked by the ISIS issue which has entered Indonesia," Hasyim Muzadi said in a written statement on Sunday. The ISIS is a new Islamic phenomenon in the Middle East which is by no means suited for Indonesian conditions, and therefore Hasyim said the people of Indonesia needed to be cautious. (*)
