Solo, Central Java (Antara) - President-elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conducted Friday prayers with ordinary people at a small mosque on a river bank in Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java, on Friday. After praying at the Nur Jamil mosque in Tapen in Nusuka village, he walked out of the mosque to the applause of the people who enthusiastically welcomed him. Sri Hartini (51), a local villager, said she was very glad Jokowi had visited her village. "It is a historic moment for the small mosque to be visited by a president-elect," she said. People jostled to shake hands with Jokowi, who is also former Solo mayor. Jokowi said that he was in Solo for a week to celebrate Idul Fitri with his family, friends, neighbors, and community members, including villagers in Tapen. "I came to Solo only for Idul Fitri and nothing else," he said. Before conducting Friday prayers at the mosque he had stopped at Nusukan market and met pedicab drivers and gave them money. Afterwards, he left for the Kalioso cemetery in Karanganyar and Bonoloyo cemetery in Nusukan, Banjarsari, to pay respect to his ancestors. (*) Reported by Bambang Dwi Marwoto
