London (Antara) - Some 725 Indonesian citizens in Austria and Slovenia voted in the presidential election on Saturday, the Indonesian embassy's Counselor Dody Kusumonegoro in Vienna said on Saturday.
Of the total number of eligible voters in Austria and Slovenia, some 400 sent their ballots by mail, he said.
A polling station was set up in the embassy in Vienna and operated from 8 am to 6 pm local time for voters in Austria and those from Slovenia.
Some 221 voters turned out at the polling station in the embassy in Vienna, up 3.76 percent from the turnout during the legislative election held on April 5, 2014, which was 213 people.
The implementation of the presidential election was smooth and orderly, Kusumonegoro said.
Based on the data of the General Election Commission (KPU), the number of eligible voters within the accreditation of the Austria and Slovenia electoral districts is 725, comprising 708 having been registered in the Overseas Eligible Voters' List (DPTLN) and 17 others in the Overseas Additional Voters' List (DPTbLN).
On July 9, the embassy will count the ballots from the ballot boxes. On July 14, the embassy will make recapitulation of both counting of ballots from the ballot boxes and those received by mail.
The results of the total ballot counting will be considered as part of the results from the Jakarta II electoral district (Central and South Jakarta, and Overseas).
The Indonesian presidential elections are contested by two presidential and vice presidential pairs: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - Jusuf Kalla (JK).
Prabowo Subianto is a retired military general and the founder of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), while his running mate, Hatta Rajasa, is a former coordinating minister for economic affairs and the chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN).
Jokowi is Jakarta's governor and a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), while his running mate, Jusuf Kalla, is a former vice president and a senior politician of the Golkar Party. (*)
