Jakarta (Antara) - The anti corruption court (Tipikor), here on Monday, sentenced the former constitutional court chairman Akil Mochtar to a life imprisonment in the cases of alleged graft and money laundering.
"Sentencing a life imprisonment to the defendant M Akil Mochtar," the panel of judges chairman, Suwidya stated. The verdict was in line with the public prosecutor's demand.
Akil was accused of taking bribes in handling 10 cases of regional election disputes referred to the constitutional court and being involved in money laundering. (*)
