Palembang, S Sumatra (Antara) - The Palembang-based state fertilizer company, PT Pusri, has distributed 576,822 tons of subsidized urea fertilizer to the farmers in nine provinces since January 2014, noted the company's public relations manager, Sulfa Ghanie. "Since the past six months, the distribution of subsidized urea fertilizer to the farmers has run smoothly to ease their planting activities during this year," Sulfa stated here on Tuesday. According to Sulfa, the realization of fertilizer distribution was in line with the Definitive Plan of Farmers' Need (RDKK) in the provinces of South Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, Bangka Belitung, Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, and Yogyakarta. To meet the fertilizer demands of the farmers in those provinces for the coming months, Sulfa pointed out that the company will continue to increase the stocks at district levels. "We have sufficient stocks of the fertilizer at the farmers' production centers to meet their needs during the second phase of the planting season from April to September 2014," he added. Sulfa remarked that besides trying to meet the needs of the local farmers, the company has also exported some 70 thousand tons of urea fertilizer to several Asian countries. PT Pusri currently has four factories with a total production capacity of 2.262 million tons of urea per year. (*)
