Sorong, Papua (Antara) - The Culture and Education Minister Mohammad Nuh supported education development in rural Indonesia by implementing the "Teaching Scholar" program 2014 in remote areas. "Education is the most important necessity. We are not considering the age limitation," Nuh said here on Monday. He said there is a teacher who is a Teaching Scholar in the Outer and Backward Region program that teaches a family. "It is fine. The people at any age should get an education," he said, adding that the awareness to get an education is important for the people in remote areas. Education should be imparted to people in rural areas, despite their limited conditions. The Teaching Scholar program is an effort by the Ministry to develop the education sector in rural areas. The program has been in operation since 2010. The teachers who are in the program are devoted to the nation, Nuh said. He affirmed that the school buildings have non-standard facilities. "The total students are very low. There are even schools with nine students," the Minister added. The Minister hoped that the people can get access to education through the Teaching Scholar program in remote areas. He said the program will not only equalize access to education, but also establish justice. "We believe that the program can increase the total number of students in any age to get an education to more than 95 percent," the Minister added. (*)
