Jakarta (Antara) - Remittance by Indonesian migrant workers in various countries totaled Rp73 trillion in the first ten months of the year up from Rp67.87 trillion in the same period last year.
There are around 6 million Indonesian migrant workers in various countries mainly in Middle East, Malaysia , Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong , Taiwan and Singapore.
In Middle East such as Saudi Arabia, and in Singapore the Indonesian migrant workers are dominated by house maids and in Malaysia, many Indonesians work in oil palm plantations.
Japan, South Korea and Taiwan and other countries like Hong Kong and the United States have accepted workers from Indonesian mainly with certain skills to work at factories or hospitals. (*)
