Jakarta (Antara) - The Mary McBride Band treated Indonesia to soulful rock music at gigs in Yogjakarta (December 5-7) and Jakarta (December 7-8), after a swing through Sumatra, stated the US embassy, here.
As published on the embassy website, here on Monday, the band had two shows in Jakarta, at @america, including a concert with special guests from Sanggar Akar, Children with Cancer, and the US Embassy's Access English language programs.
On December 8, the band also performed live on RCTI's nationwide hit program Dashyat. On the last leg of their Indonesia tour, the band will perform in Manado, North Sulawesi, on December 9-10.
On the evening of December 7, the embassy also hosted a reception and performance to celebrate the third anniversary of @america, the U.S. Embassy's high-tech cultural center at Pacific Place Mall.
The evening's festivities included stand-up comedy, the blues stylings of Indonesian guitar virtuoso Adrian Adioetomo, and a special performance by the American rockers, the Mary McBride Band.
Since opening its doors in December 2010, the cultural space has hosted more than 480 thousand visitors at nearly 2 thousand events. @america embodies the vision that President Barack Obama outlined in his speech on November 10, 2010 at Universitas Indonesia: "We want to forge new ties and greater understanding between young people in the young century."
