Jakarta (Antara) - An Indonesian contingent of disabled athletes has been sent to the Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games in New Castle, Australia, according to Social Affairs Minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri.
In the contingent with ninety-five members, of which 68 are athletes and 18 are coaches, the minister added.
"The athletes were chosen after careful consideration," he said, adding that the athletes will compete in football, athletics, basketball, table tennis, badminton and swimming competitions.
The minister noted that sports can be used as a platform for uniting nations without any discrimination on the basis of race, religion or nationality. (*)
