Nusa Dua, Bali (Antara) - Indonesia's U-17 women's taekwondo team won a silver medal on the third day of the 8th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship here on Saturday.
The women's team, including Kevita Rizkia, Mutaqoh Nisa and Mutiara Habiba, were awarded the silver medal with 8.02 points, losing to the Philippines which took home the gold medal with 8.13 points.
Thailand and Mexico, which scored 8.01 points and 7.94 points, respectively, received bronze medals.
"I was nervous when I started the match," Mutaqoh said.
"I knew that my opponent was strong, and I felt strained," she said.
The three female taekwondo athletes had earlier taken part in the Indonesia Open in Jakarta and the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang, South Sumatra, where they won a bronze medal.
Also on Saturday, Indonesia's Ina Febriana won a bronze medal when she competed in the women's U-49 individual event, while a gold medal went to Kyeong-Ran Oh of South Korea and a silver medal to Heba Labib of Egypt.
The WTF Taekwondo Poomsae is scheduled to end on Sunday with final competitions in the men's and women's team +29, men's team U-17, women's U-59, women's U-29 and freestyle mixed team events.
Indonesia was ranked seventh in the 8th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship here on Saturday, being awarded one silver and two bronze medals. (*)
