Antam Tbk said this year it would provide scholarships for 50 more students of the University of Sembilan Belas November (USN) in the regency of Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi. Antam has regularly offered assistance in the form of scholarship under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program for the students of the university. The state owned company always cooperates with the government in contributing to education through its CSR program, a company spokesman dr. Hakim said. Hakim, chief of the human resource and CSR division of the district unit of the company, said the scholarships were offered for students from low income families. The company is facing a less favorable condition financially with nickel price fall in the world market , but the scholarship program for the poor will continue to improve the country's human resource quality, he said . Nickel and ferro-nickel are the main mineral commodities of the company in addition to gold, silver, bauxite and other minerals. Hakim hopes that the students selection by the university would meet the requirements to deserve the assistance offered by Antam in the form of scholarship . USN rector Azhari expressed his appreciation for Antam for its contribution to the education of students facing financial difficulty. He said Antam has since 2008 provided scholarships for 50 students of the university every year. Some of the recipients have completed their program in the university , he said. This year 114 students have been registered for selection from various faculties of the university. (*)
