Denpasar, Bali (Antara) - The world beauty contest "Miss World 2013" in Bali Province can help enhance the island's tourism sector.
"We hope the event can have a positive impact on Bali's tourism revenue," said Chief of Bali Provincial Tourism Sub-official Ida Bagus Kade Subikshu here on Wednesday.
He said several improvements have been made in terms of accommodation, food, and transportation.
Besides, 130 Miss World contestants who visit a number of tourism sites on the island also become a free promotion for Bali's tourism sector.
All the beautiful and talented contestants are scheduled to visit Tanah Lot in Tabanan, Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) in Jimbaran, Bali Safari in Gianyar, and Pura Besakih of Karangasem.
Subikshu said the committee has coordinated with local government, including temple officers and villagers, for the contestants' visit to Pura Besakih.
"The temple will be one of the tremendous attractions for the contestants. They will wear polite clothes relating to the local tradition when coming to the temple, " he said.
The contestants will follow quarantine period in Bali until September 14, 2013. The final competition will be held in Bogor of W Java Province on September 28, 2013.
Subikshu expected the international event can contribute to the short and long term of the tourism development in Bali which known as a barometer for Indonesia tourism.
He hopes the total of tourist arrival also increase due to Miss World 2013 held in Bali. (*)
