Sleman (Antara) - Search for a missing Russian tourist on the slope of Mount Merapi in Sleman District, Yogyakarta, was halted on thick clouds on Wednesday. Ehbrehnin Yevgeny (26) was reported missing on Sunday after he alone climbed the mountain last Saturday. A search and rescue team has cellular phone contact with Yevgeny, but he was not found in the spot in the area of Srimanganti where he was supposed to wait, SAR team leader Brotoseno said at the SAR command post in Kinahrejo on Wednesday afternoon. Brotoseno said the team had contacts twice with the missing man on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning at 11.000 local time. "As Yevgeny could cry out strongly for help we believe he is still safe until this hour," he said. He said search will be resumed on Thursday morning. Yevgeny climbed the mountain Saturday leaving his girl fiend Ester in Yogyakarta, but on Sunday he sent a short message to Ester that he lost his way and asked her to come to Merapi on Monday to look for him.
