Banda Aceh (Antara) - Secretary General of the Democratic Party Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono has denied an Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) report accusing him of being one of 36 legislative candidates who lack commitment to fighting against corruption. "If I was accused of not fully supporting the fight against corruption, that is completely wrong," said Edhie, who is also popularly called Ibas, in Meulaboh on Monday night. Ibas, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's second son, said he has been fully supporting the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)'s action to combat graft. He affirmed that his support to KPK's efforts to combat corruption is obvious as he had never made a statement discrediting the anti-graft body and reducing its function. He said some time ago he also reported defamation charges leveled against him to the authorized agency. "What is true, some time ago I reported charges leveled against me (to the authorized agency). The charges were nothing more than defamation related to the Hambalang case. As a matter of fact, I fully support the KPK," he said. Previously, ICW released 36 names of legislative candidates considered not supportive to anti-corruption drive. ICW said 10 of the legislative candidates come from the Democratic Party. In response to the possibility of the legislative candidates filing lawsuits against ICW, the graft watchdog said it is ready to face them. "We are ready to face the lawsuits. So far we have not named any lawyer because the complaints are still at the police reporting service," ICW official Emerson Yunto said. (*)
