Jakarta (ANTARA) -
Indonesia's National Police (Polri) has said that the international network of drug lord Fredy Pratama is still actively trafficking drugs into the country.
"He is still actively sending goods to Malaysian and Indonesian territories," director for drug crimes at the Polri's Criminal Investigation Unit, Mukti Juharsa, told the press in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, Polri has been making efforts to arrest members of the drug lord's network.
"(A member of) Fredy Pratama's network was caught yesterday by Sub-Directorate III. There is (evidence) 25 kilograms. It has been updated. We continue to monitor it," he informed.
As part of efforts to bust Pratama's network in Malaysia, Polri's Criminal Investigation Unit has established cooperation with the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Royal Malaysia Police.
The cooperation was discussed in a bilateral meeting between Juharsa and JSJN director Datuk Khaw Kok Chin in Jakarta on Thursday.
Juharsa explained that under the cooperation, the Indonesian and Malaysian police will collaborate in efforts to monitor and arrest fugitives who are on Indonesia's wanted list in Malaysia, including members of Pratama's network.
"We do the same, they (Malaysia) also have a wanted list for us. Later, we will also help with surveillance in our territory so we can expose the Malaysian drug perpetrators," he said.
Apart from that, the cooperation is also aimed at blocking the entry routes of drugs via Malaysia.
"We have agreed to close all the entry routes of drugs in Sumatra and Kalimantan," he disclosed.
