Iran President Condoles With Saudi King on Crown Price Death

Tehran, Oct 24 (ANTARA/IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday extended condolence to Saudi King Abdullah bin Abd al-Aziz as-Saud on the death of Saudi Crown Prince Sultan bin Abd al-Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation.
In the cable, President Ahmadinejad offered the sincere and heartfelt condolence of the Iranian leadership, government and people on the death of the Saudi crown prince.
Iranian president prayed to God to bestow patience upon Saudi nation and government as well as Prince Sultan's family.
The royal court announced the death of Prince Sultan, who was thought to be aged about 86, in New York of colon cancer at dawn on Saturday.
The death of the crown prince - the half-brother of Saudi King Abdullah - was announced by Saudi state TV on Saturday.
He underwent surgery in New York in February 2009 for an undisclosed illness and spent nearly a year abroad recuperating in the United States and at a palace in Agadir, Morocco.
