Bangkok (Antaranews Jatim) - The Indonesian men's team failed to advance to the Thomas Cup 2018 finals, losing to China 1-3 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on Friday.
China secured a semi-final victory on Friday night after the pair of Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen defeated Indonesian's pair, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, 21-17, 18-21, 21-12.
The Indonesian team may not have advanced to the final like it did two years ago, but it put up a strong challenge against China, which had a higher BWF rating.
After Anthony Ginting failed to overcome the 2016 Olympic champion Cheng Long, Indonesia caught up with Kevin Sanjaya / Marcus Gideon's victory over Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan.
But in the third contest, Johatan Christie who had won the first game failed to overcome the World number three, Shi Yuqi, who gave China a 2-1 lead with a 18-21, 21-12, 21-15 victory.
In the fourth tie, the Hendra/Ahsan pair was defeated by China's Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen.
