Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and India are exploring higher education collaboration in the fields of business and economics to expand access to quality education and strengthen cooperation.

This was highlighted during a meeting between Higher Education Minister Brian Yuliarto and Indian Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore to discuss strategic academic partnerships.

The minister welcomed the planned partnership to strengthen the internationalization of higher education with a specific focus on business and economics.

"We hope that universities in Indonesia and India can collaborate on various joint programs, particularly research in the fields of business and economics," Yuliarto said in a statement on Thursday.

Ambassador Chakravorty emphasized that the planned cooperation represents a long-term commitment to strengthening human resource development.

IIMB Director-in-Charge Dinesh Kumar Unnikrishna stated that, given IIMB's position as a research-based business school, the cooperation will focus on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and modern business ecosystem development.

At Wednesday's meeting, the parties also touched on opportunities to establish a Master of Business Administration program in Indonesia.

Through this initiative, the ministry hopes the partnership will foster a learning ecosystem that is more innovative and globally competitive.

The collaboration is expected to bolster the capacity of higher education institutions while creating innovative, adaptive, and globally competitive research opportunities for students.
