Jakarta (ANTARA) - Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar encouraged Muslims to make Eid al-Fitr an opportunity to strengthen empathy and social awareness.
He noted that the month of Ramadan is not merely about observing a ritual of fasting but also a means of building a more caring and empathetic character.
"Fasting is a process of honing social sensitivity. Behind the hunger and thirst lies a powerful message about empathy for others and concern for those in need," Minister Umar said in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
He explained that the echoes of people reciting takbir, marking the end of Ramadan, also serve as a symbol of spiritual victory.
"True victory is not simply returning to our daily routines, but succeeding in keeping the flame of piety alive," he stated.
Furthermore, Umar also highlighted that Eid al-Fitr is a moment to sow the seeds of kindness and attain blessings.
Blessings, the minister asserted, only come to those with open hearts and those who actively spread benefits to their surroundings.
In this regard, he urged Muslims not to let the spirit of Ramadan fade with the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, which the government officially set for March 21.
He stated that the values of discipline, honesty, and care practiced during Ramadan must be maintained and used as a guide in daily life.
The minister concluded his statement by extending his Eid al-Fitr greetings to the public, expressing hope for blessings, peace, and harmony for the Indonesian nation.
