Jakarta - Four middle ranking police officers finally complied on Friday with summon by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for questioning as witnesses in a corruption case of driving simulators involving police's traffic corps.
Adjunct Senior Commissioner Wandi Rustiwan, Comr. Ni Nyoman Suwartini, Comr. Endah Purwaningsih and Adj. Sr. Comr Wisnhu Buddhaya arrived this morning at the KPK office .
The four officers were members of the auction committee for the procurement of Rp196.8-billion worth of driving simulators for the traffic corps in 2011.
KPK already named four suspects including two police generals Ins. Gen. Djoko Susilo, former chief of the traffic corps and his deputy Brig. Gen. Didik Purnomo and two civilians.
Yesterday KPK spokesman Johan Budi said the four officers failed to comply with KPK's first summon for questioning on Aug. 29 for mistakes in writing names and ranks.
The ranks of some of officers had been promoted, therefore, we sent a second summon, Johan said.
KPK chief Abraham Samad has said he was convinced the police officers would duly comply with the summon and police had no intention of blocking investigations by KPK.
KPK and police have had quarrel over which of them having the right to carry out the investigation.
A Law on KPK rules that other law enforcing agencies including police may not interfere in cases being investigated by the anti graft agency . KPK is even authorized to take over corruption cases from other law enforcing agencies.
Police have announced named a list of five suspects but not included Djoko. They even have arrested their suspects three of who are also in the list of KPK's suspects. (*)
