Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, on Saturday, visited Paulus Western Indonesian Protestant Church (GPIB) in Menteng, Central Jakarta, to review the preparations for 2024 Christmas services and celebrations.

In its press release cited here, the Vice Presidential Secretariat noted that the presence of VP Gibran at the church serves as a testament to the government's commitment to preserving diversity and promoting the values of unity among members of the public.

Upon arriving at the Paulus GPIB at around 10:30 a.m. local time, the vice president was welcomed by leader figures of the church, congregations, and children waiting for him in the churchyard.

Thereafter, Gibran handed out Christmas gifts to the children, conversed with them, and accepted their requests for a picture.

The children expressed their gratitude to the vice president and invoked God's blessings for him.

On the occasion, Gibran said he views Christmas as a valuable momentum for the Indonesian nation to further strengthen its sense of brotherhood and togetherness.

In view of this, he underlined that President Prabowo Subianto genuinely treasures the well-maintained diversity among Indonesian people.

Through a joint decree signed by three ministers, the Indonesian government has declared December 25, 2024, as a Christmas holiday and December 26 as a collective leave day.

According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, around 110.67 million people are predicted to make the most of the Christmas and New Year holidays to embark on domestic trips.

The Indonesian government has taken various measures to optimally manage high public mobility during the holiday season, such as inspecting the preparedness of transportation infrastructure and mobilizing over 140 thousand joint security personnel.
