Jakarta - The Indonesian government in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will organize an international demography conference in the resort island of Bali in December 2012. "We hope all UN member states would attend the event," Deputy Head of the National Demography and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) for Prosperous Families and Families Empowerment Sudibyo Alimoeso said here on Sunday. The conference will raise the issue of younger generations or youths, he said. "The conference will discuss a wide range of topics, including reproduction health, manpower and youth smoking trend," he said. But he added that health reproduction would be the main issue to be discussed at the conference, he said. He said youths highly needed an in-depth knowledge of reproduction health to better prepare themselves for a family life. "The absence of information on health reproduction from right sources may adversely affect youths," he said. At present youths were highly susceptible to social and health reproduction problems including premarital sexual behavior and HIV/AIDS transmission, he said. (*)
