East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa on Saturday expressed gratitude over the safe, conducive, and solemn Eid al-Fitr celebrations in the province.

"On behalf of the East Java provincial government and myself, I ask for forgiveness for any sins or mistakes. Let’s celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1444 Hijri,” she said here on Saturday.

She expressed the hope that all forms of worship, such as fasting, the act of reciting the Quran together (tadarus), the Qiyamullail prayer, and almsgiving would be accepted by God.

She also thanked all related officials in East Java for their outstanding performance in securing the exodus flow.

Based on a report, the peak of exodus in East Java went relatively safely and smoothly, she said.

"Last night, the East Java Regional Police’s Traffic Directorate informed that the number of accidents had dropped. Even though it is only halfway through (the end of the Eid season period), we express our gratitude for the hard work of all the field teams,” she added.

She predicted that the peak of tourist attraction visits will last until April 25, 2023.

Therefore, she asked all elements of the military, the police, the health office, the transportation office, and volunteers to strengthen synergy and collaboration to keep tourist destinations operating safely, smoothly, and comfortably to leave a good impression on visitors.

"I ask the tourism destination managers to prepare security as much as possible at tourist attractions," she said.

Furthermore, related parties must prepare for the return flow, Parawansa added.

“The return flow must be monitored so that any matter can be (handled in a) smooth (manner), and (we) can provide a sense of security, as well as safety to the destinations," she said.

On Saturday morning, the governor and her family performed the Eid prayer at Al Akbar National Mosque in Surabaya.
