Sumenep, E Java (Antaranews Jatim) - A total of 124 foreign tourists visited  Sumenep District, Madura Island, East Java Province on Monday.

 "They come to Sumenep with the help of the international travel bureaus," the Head of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports (Disparbudpora) of Sumenep, Sukaryo, said here on Monday afternoon. The tourists were from a number of countries, including France and Germany.

Cruise ships carrying them docked in the waters of Tanjung, Saronggi Sub-district, and the foreign tourists split into two groups.

The first group of 85 tourists visited Sembilan Beach and Giligenting Island, and the second group of 39 went to the Sumenep Palace and museum in Kota Sub-district.  

"The visitors on Monday were the second group this year. Eight more groups of foreign tourists were expected to visit Sumenep this year," Sukaryo said.

A group of  138 foreign tourists had visited the Sembilan Beach and Sumenep Palace on May 15. (*)
