Surabaya, E Java, March 6 (Antara) - The East Java's Chamber of Commerce and Industry cooperates with its German counterpart Industrie-und Handelskammer (IHK) to improve competence of professional workers in the province by holding regular training during 2018.
East Java's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Deputy Chairman of Agriculture Adik Dwi Putranto here on Tuesday said the improvement of professional worker competence is done through the Professional Certification Coordination Agency under the umbrella of the chamber.
He said some professional fields in cooperation with Germany include nursing, mechanics, biological and agricultural chemistry, and administration.
Adik added that the training will be held for eight times in 2018. This number increases compared to that in 2017 which was held six times.
"Of the several professional workers, the most in demand is engineering, such as mechanics that reach 40 percent," he said.
Adik added that the improvement of competence is expected to give birth to professional workers who have ability to fulfill their responsibilities optimally.
"In addition, the professionals are expected to have initiative and self-control, and have ability to make decisions within the scope of responsibility given to them," he said.
According to Adik, the process of professional education in Germany has been advanced because it implements dual system that integrates theory and practice. This system allows students to directly meet with industries.
Meanwhile, a representative of the German Chamber of Commerce, Sabine Steilen, who is also the Executive Director of IHK, said that the competency pattern of professional workers in Indonesia is less of a concern.
"In Indonesia, there is no professional competence, and there is no appropriate regulation so we need to push this through cooperation," Steilen said. (*)
