The Hague, (Antara) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at a meeting with Belgian King Philippe at the Royal Palace on Thursday urged Belgium to strengthen partnership to combat terrorism, according to presidential communication team member Ari Dwipayana.

Dwipayana stated that during the meeting, President Jokowi, on behalf of the government and people of Indonesia, expressed condolences to the Kingdom of Belgium for the bomb attack that claimed the lives of several people, including two Indonesians who suffered serious injuries.

According to Dwipayana, President Jokowi said Indonesia strongly condemned the deadly bomb attack.

Related to bilateral issues, President Jokowi noted that Princess Astrid's visit to Indonesia along with a Belgian business delegation in March 2015 and King Philippe's visit along with 150 Belgian employers demonstrated a commitment to improving and strengthening bilateral relations with Indonesia.

Indonesia also shares the same commitment to constantly improving the sound relations with Belgium, which are focused on three areas: economic, socio-cultural, and inter-religious dialog.

King Philippe, in particular, expressed his gratitude to President Jokowi for the warm welcome extended to Princess Astrid who was accompanied by 300 businessmen during the visit.(*)
