Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (Antara) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) arrived at the Mandalika resort in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday morning to attend the main event of the National Press Day (HPN) 2016.

Arriving at the Lombok International Airport, the head of state was greeted by West Nusa Tenggara Governor Muhammad Zainul Majdi.

During the visit, the president was accompanied by First Lady Iriana, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Imam Nahrawi, and National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti.

Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Chairman Margiono remarked here on Tuesday that the participants of the HPN were journalists, members of the Press Council, media owners, and numerous media reporters from ASEAN countries.

President Jokowi will deliver a speech at the event to mark HPN and will then return to Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.

During the event, the media team will also conduct cataract surgeries.

Last year, the HPN 2015 was held in the Riau Islands' provincial city of Batam and was attended by several foreign ambassadors.(*)
