Washington DC, (Antara) - Visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with his American counterpart Barack Obama, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi.

Speaking during a press conference at the Blair House here on Sunday evening, Marsudi said Jokowi and Obama will discuss four issues at the Oval Office, White House, on Monday morning.

"The first issue to be discussed between the two leaders is that Indonesia is the largest democratic country, with strategic values, such as tolerance and pluralism that enable it to play the role of a bridge," the minister remarked.

According to Marsudi, the second issue is that Indonesia is ready to step up economic cooperation with the United States and the world, while the third is about Indonesia as the largest digital market in Southeast Asia, with its market value reaching US$12 billion in 2014.

The minister noted that climate change will be the fourth issue to be discussed between Jokowi and Obama, taking into account that the figures are the leaders of two large countries.

"Indonesia is a large country, and we hope that the bilateral meeting between Jokowi and Obama will yield benefits to both countries and the world," she added.(*)
