Doha, (Antara) - The government cannot be threatened by the shooting incident that occurred at the ministry's office a few days ago, according to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry will continue with the ongoing projects in an effort to improve the energy sector of the country, Said informed journalists on the sidelines of President Joko Widodo's visit to Doha on Monday night local time.

Said alleged that the shooting incident at the office of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry was the work of a person who has an aversion to the government's pace to bring about improvements in the energy sector.

"I allegedly believe that it was only a sign, and I believe in the investigation conducted by the police. I am not affected and even feel better. The president also said to continue with the ongoing projects," he remarked.

"I do not think it was a terror attack, but the police have another assessment. If the police have said that security should be beefed up, then we welcome the decision. We must be vigilant, but there is no need to panic," Said pointed out.

Earlier, the Jakarta Police alleged that a gunman, seated in a car, shot at the office of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.

"Allegedly, the perpetrator used a car when he fired a shot," Director of General Criminal Investigation of Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner Krishna Murthi stated in Jakarta on Sunday, September 13.

Murthi explained that the allegation is based on a test conducted by the Central Forensic Laboratory Team, which investigated the crime scene.(*)
