Surabaya, E Java (Antara) -- A Chinese parliamentary delegation, which is part of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Tanjung Perak Port here on Saturday.

"The Indonesian government hopes that the two countries can establish cooperation that is comprehensive and mutually beneficial," Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan said here on Saturday.

He added that China was a large country that posted tremendous economic growth.

Hasan further noted that Indonesia can gain from the visit paid to the port by the Chinese parliamentary delegation.

In addition, the Chinese delegation made visiting the East Java provincial city of Surabaya a priority.

"They (the parliamentarians) are interested in Surabaya because it is a big city with a large population, has a huge port, and high economic growth," Hasan, who is also the leader of the National Mandate Party, explained.

In the future, Indonesia and China are expected to cooperate in several sectors, including in the fields of economy, port infrastructure, roads, and power plants, Hasan affirmed.
