Surabaya, E Java,  (Antara) -- French contemporary circus artist and unique juggler Vincent de Lavenère performed at Narotama University (Unnar) in Surabaya on Monday.

"Unnar was chosen as the location to hold the contemporary circus because we have a French Corner. Coincidentally, the French Corner is celebrating its second anniversary now, and the circus performance will be its highlight," a spokesperson for Unnar's French Corner said here on Monday.

Lavenère's performance was part of activities of the annual festival "Printemps Francais 2015" in Indonesia held from May 15 to June 16, she added.

The festival was also held in Bali, Jombang, Medan, Padang, Bandung and Jakarta, featuring music, dance, circus, theater, jazz, art shows, visual arts, and seminars, she noted.

In his show, Lavenère performed a multidisciplinary show that lulled the audience into a sense of false security and hypnotized them.

He performed an art attraction known as Jonglerie Champêtre, a form of musical juggling which involves a voice accompanied by an instrument and a multitude of musical balls.

"Lavenère's show was the highlight of the commemoration of Unnar's French Corner's second anniversary. The events began in March and will end early June," she stated. (*)
