Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) who is chief of the Democrat Party will participate in a parade and fun walk ahead of the party's third congress here on May 3. "General Chairman SBY will open the fun walk. He will also take part in it along with the residents of Surabaya," chief of the cadre organization and membership section of the party's provincial chapter in East Java Hartoyo said here on Monday. Some 20 thousand residents will participate in the event ahead of the party congress that will be held from May 11 to 13, 2015. "This proves that Surabaya is ready to host the congress. We will show the public that the congress will not be just a formal gathering," Hartoyo who is also acting chief of the party's city branch in Surabaya noted. The fun walk will start from Jatim Ekspo International on Ahmad Yani Street. Participants will pass through Jemursari and Margorejo Streets, among others, and return to Ahmad Yani Street. City residents who wish to take part in the event can collect free tickets from the office of the party's provincial branch on Kertajaya Street or from the office of the Democrat Party faction in the East Java provincial legislative council on Indrapura Street. "The organizing committee is preparing some 150 items, including a house, five motorcycles, bicycles, and refrigerators, as main prizes and hundreds of other prizes that will be distributed during the event," he remarked.
