Malang, E.Java (Antara) - Brawijaya University in Malang, East Java, has set eyes on the top spot among Asian universities by positioning its qualities to the world's leading higher education institutions. "As the top university in the Asian region, Brawijaya will compete with other leading universities in the world," the Rector of Brawijaya University, Prof Dr Muhammad Bisri, said here Monday. He added that Asia, as the most populated continent in the world, has the potential to be the world economic tiger. China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, have been the main reference nations for other countries looking to improve their economies and manage higher education institutions. "We hope that Brawijaya will be able to compete with other Asian universities. Every academic should focus on the target and work hard to reach there," Prof Bisri added. According to him, as a step forward to reach the target, Brawijaya University has attained the national accreditation with A grade. Brawijaya University has many characteristics of a leading university such as academic achievements, public information transparency, and students' achievements in global level competitions. "Brawijaya has been closely working with international universities based in Europe, the United States, and Australia," Prof Bisri remarked. Brawijaya currently has 139 study programs, of which 51 have A grade, 53 have B grade, and six programs have C grade. Twenty-nine new study programs have already earned C grade. (*)
