Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian Ulema Council's Jakarta Chapter Chairman KH A Syarifuddin Abdul Ghani has expressed willingness to mediate the conflict between Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and the Front for the Defense of Islam. "We had a dialog with the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) to try for a mediation of the conflict between the Front (FPI) and the acting governor," he said here Wednesday. He expressed hope to solve the problem soon so that it would not become complicated. Regarding Ahok's intention to dissolve the FPI, he observed it would make the problem even worse. Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Ma'ruf Amin said the conflict between the FPI and Ahok should be handled wisely and through dialogs. "The FPI was right to channel its aspiration to the DPRD. It will later be dealt with in line with the existing laws and Constitution," Amin added. (*)
